Introduction to HTML and How the World Wide Web Works
How HTML Works With the Web
Remember how I said that your web browser takes the code
words, like "text" and "image" and tells
your computer what to do with them? Time to learn how that
really works.
Unlike computer designers, internet designers had to
write a language that could work on any computer no matter
what the operating system. Yes, a language, like English or
Latin or Spanish. In this case, it is called HTML or Hyper
Text Markup Language. Every few years, a group of experts
come together and agree upon new words to add to the
official language and publish an updated list of those
words. It's rather like when a dictionary releases a new
version.
