More About 4-H In
Los Angeles County
U.C. Cooperative Extension's 4-H Youth
Development Program creates innovative programs that meet the evolving
needs of our County's diverse suburban and urban youth while
continuing to fulfill the needs of young children in rural areas. 4-H
involves youth in self-determined, hands-on learning activities such
as leadership development, career exploration, graphic arts, animal
care, gardening, food and nutrition, and much more.
More than 60 4-H Clubs in communities throughout Los Angeles County
offer volunteer opportunities for adults and fun learning activities
for youth ages 5-19. Of our 60 active clubs, 18 are part of our
award-winning 4-H After School Activity Program (ASAP). 4-H ASAP
serves youth age 7-13 in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods,
with a special focus on public housing communities. Our 4-H Youth
EFNEP program works with teachers, parents, and children to improve
young peoples' eating habits.
